ASSOCIATED PRESS
Legos are plastic bricks used as imagination toys. You use the bricks to build whatever you can imagine! Legos were made by Ole Kirk Christiansen when he constructed the toy company The Lego Group in 1932 at Billund, Denmark.
Ole Kirk Christiansen was born on April 7, 1891 and he died on March 11, 1958. He was born in Filskov, Denmark. Christiansen trained as a carpenter and made wooden toys in 1932 to make a living after losing his job during the depression. Christiansen was inspired by a small wooden ducky toys he had made for his children and soon enough he was fascinated by toys and decided to keep making them. In the end he got plastic and made the first Lego brick. |
The Lego Group was first made in Billund, Denmark in 1932. This is where Christiansen made the first Lego brick. Making a Lego brick might seem simple, but it isn't. He had to use 20 different types of plastic to make it!
Legos can be for either boys and girls. Legos are recommended for ages 8 and up because children can eat the Lego pieces and it wouldn't be safe. A few examples are, Toys R Us, Walmart, Target, and even Walgreens! Legos can cost from $4.99 up to $200! Lego prices will vary depending on the size of the Lego set you're going to purchase. |
